State enterprise "Volynvuhillya" was created on September 4, 1998 as an independent production association, the basic task of which is coal mining and providing the national economy complex of Western regions of Ukraine with coal.
Coal resources of the area of operating mines are represented by the n7, n7в and n8 layers. Coal produced at Novovolynsk mines is beneficiated at the central "Chervonohragska" factory; 95% of the produced coal is forwarded on to Burshtynska Thermal electric power plant. However, regardless of unfavourable mining and geological terms, low-power layers, out-of-date mining and technical equipment, in 2005 the first time in 8 years the state enterprise "Volynvuhillya" headed by Mykhailo Borsuk executed the annual of coal-mining in advance, having produced 530,6 thousand tons of black gold.
Especially should be mentioned the work of miner’s collective №9 "NV", which in 2001 won the first place in the nomination "Enterprise of year" within the framework of the program "Man of the year of Volyn region" for high economic and public achievements and was awarded the honourable diploma, and on December 16, 2002 this labour collective was awarded the order of Honour according to the Decision of Presidium of the International Academy of Personnel for a considerable contribution to the development of domestic coal industry, high production indices and steady work under the new economic conditions .
The enterprise works over the following lines of activity:
- appropriation of money from the state budget for acquisition of new mining equipment, with the purpose of update of vehicle and equipment fleet at coal-mining enterprises of Novovolynsk;
- improvement of quality of both produced and shipped coal;
- grant of the skilled help in the solution of burning issues related to the organization of production process;
- computerizing of departments and services of the state enterprise "Volynvuhillya" and its departments;
- provision of health-care and rest to the miners and their families.
