Actually the work of the enterprise started in 1936, when there was created the Ukrainian department of the All-Union office of geophysical survey in Romny.
During the difficult period of war years, namely in September, 1943 exploration and survey works were renewed in Ukraine. In 1944 the working personnel of the "Ukrskhidnaftapromrozvidka" trust, at present - subsidiary enterprise "Poltavanaftohazheolohiya" counted 350 persons, including 4 geologists and 43 drilling specialists. In 1950 the intensive work of land-surveyors resulted in discovery of two large depositaries - Radchenkivske oil and gas depositary and Shebelynske gas condensing depositary.
In the period of 1950-1980 the surveying works appeared to be especially fruitful. For conducting such kind of works there were created three trusts: "Poltavanaftohazrozvidka", "Chernihivnaftohazrozvidka", "Kharkivnaftohazrozvidka".
The team of specialists of the trust started the introduction of new technological developments and applied new drilling equipment.
We are proud of the fact that Poltava geology surveyors were the first to master the extremely deep drilling method won the first place in the world as for its concentration and geological efficiency.
According to the Decree of Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of USSR in 1966 the trust of "Poltavanaftohazrozvidka" of the Ministry of geology of the Ukrainian SSR was awarded the "Red Banner of Labour Order" for successes in the development of gas industry.
In 1975 Ukraine won the first place in the Soviet Union and Europe in gas extraction, the amount of which attained 68,7 bln.m3.
In 1981 the leading scientists and specialists of production enterprises were awarded the third bonus of the USSR Council of Ministers for scientific and production development and implementation of the new trend and geology and surveying works.
A great achievement of geological surveying works at extreme depths was a successful discovery and additional survey of the Large Yablunivske oil and gas condensate depository. Within a short period of activity of the subsidiary enterprise "Poltavanaftohazheolohiya" there were created the leading Poltava and Kharkiv oil and gas extraction complexes in the territory of Left-bank Ukraine. For the development of a new trend of geological surveying works and the discovery of the Kharkiv oil and gas extraction district in 1992 the group of scientists and production geologists was awarded the State prize in the industry of sciences and mechanics. Regardless of the critical state of affairs at present the working personnel of the subsidiary enterprise "Poltavanaftohazheolohiya" continues to work hard and fruitfully. Nowadays it is engaged not only in the exploration and survey of deposits of oil and gas, but also keeps on working over the intensification of extraction of hydrocarbon raw material, major repairs of oil wells, implementation of renovation works in oil-wells. With the purpose of saving the production potential of the enterprise the activity of the administration is channelled at the search of additional volumes of works, attraction of investments. At this time the number of employees working at the enterprise makes 1500 people.
