Ludmyla Nozdrina

Ludmyla Nozdrina having graduated from Lviv Ivan Franko state university in 1973 came to work in Berdiansk museum of local lore as a research worker, and since then her life is inseparably linked with it. Since 1977 Ludmyla Nozdrina is the director of this museum.
She successfully combines administrative, economic, scientific and creative activity, and she is a great enthusiast of museum sphere.
Under her guidance and with her direct participation a new exposition of the museum and three branches were created: memorial house and museum of P. Schmidt, museum "Podvyh" ("Feat of arms") and museum of Berdiansk history in 2005. It is the museum of European type, and the author of scientific conception and architectural and artistic project and the coordinator of the building was Ludmyla Nozdrina.
In 2004 her collection "Notes of student of local lore" was published.
In 1992 as a deputy of city rada she started defending the buildings of cultural and historical value in Berdiansk. The list of these buildings made by her became a writ of protection for them.
She actively works on saving of former museum exhibits on public basis. Several factory museums of Berdiansk were transported to the museum of local lore in 2005 and now are exhibited.
She was awarded the honorary sign of Ministry of culture of USSR "For excellent labour"; the honorary order of Ministry of culture and art of Ukraine "For long-term productive labour in the industry of culture" (2003); medals "10 years of independence of Ukraine" and "For important contribution to development of Zaporizhzhya region" (2005); the order "For merits from the mayor" for the foundation of museum of Berdiansk history. She was awarded not once the diplomas of Ministry of culture and art of Ukraine and the mayor.
Ludmyla Nozdrina won in the contest of the International fund "Ukraina-3000" and got the grant for museum specialists for 2005-2006, also she is a member of the Ukrainian center of museum sphere development.
She actively carries out social activity and she is a head of Berdiansk rada of culture workers trade unions.
Berdiansk museum of local lore was found in 1929 and at first was located in the former house of municipal government. The exposition of the museum consists of the following departments: pre-Soviet, Soviet, contemporary, of nature of the region and exhibition hall.
Frequent change of expositions, new exhibitions organization, searching and collecting work, mass scientific and enlightening work, visitors attraction to the museum are the main directions of our activity. Expositional interiors are created traditionally: Berdiansk bedroom of the 50s of ХХ century, Ukrainian peasant hut of ХІХ century. A new display "Bulgarian house" was opened in 2006 in honour of the 145th anniversary of Bulgarian migration from Bessarabia to Tauria.
Memorial house, P. Schmidt museum, was opened on November, 21, 1980. The family of city mayor and port superintendent P. Schmidt lived in this house from 1876 to 1886. The childhood of the future lieutenant Petro Schmidt, who studied in Berdiansk classic gymnasia for boys, passed here. On the ground floor of the museum there is an exposition dedicated to the Schmidt family life in Berdiansk and to life and activity of the lieutenant Petro Schmidt. On the first floor there are memorial rooms, where the atmosphere of that time is reproduced. The museum conducts historic and music programs "P. Schmidt is an artist, musician and public speaker", "Family traditions of the Schmidts", etc.
In 2000 the display "Under the open sky" was created in the museum yard.
The museum "Podvyh" was opened on May, 5, 1985 to the 40th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The display of the museum exposes the heroism shown by our compatriots during the war. The solemn meetings of the veterans with young people are traditionally conducted there. In 2001 a new display "The city is proud of them" was opened, it is dedicated to the prominent citizens of Berdiansk, who made important contribution to development of the city since the post-war period to 1991.
On the initiative of the city mayor V. Baranov the branch of the museum of local lore was created, the museum of Berdiansk history that was solemnly opened on September, 17, 2005.
Five halls of the museum represent the history of Berdiansk since ХІХ century to the present days. Pre-Soviet Berdiansk is shown in the first two halls, Soviet Berdiansk is in the third hall, Berdiansk of the period of Ukrainian independence since 1991 and the history of its further development is in the fourth hall. The fifth hall represents the display dedicated to the twin towns of Berdiansk and the materials "Our city" and is a winner of the contest "The most comfortable city". The conference hall of the museum is equipped in accordance with the modern requirements with computers, audio and video technique.
New ways of work, in particular museum theatre plays, cause genuine interest of the visitors.
