Berezova Rudka Folk Historical Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1974 in the picturesque village of Berezova Rudka in the Pyriatynskyi district, Poltava region, which has an extraordinarily interesting almost 300-year-old history. Founded in 1717 by the hetman Ivan Skoropadskyi, it had been since 1752 the family manor of the Zakrevskys dynasty. There has been saved till the present days the man-made miracle - the palace and park complex of the Zakrevskys’ manor and one of the three European pyramids.
In 1843-1846 the village was five times visited by T. Shevchenko. The poet and singer Dmytro Lutsenko was born there.
The museum was created on the basis of the Т. Shevchenko memorial room, which existed since 1961 at the Berezova Rudka Agricultural Technical School and two historical rooms of the village, organized in 1968. It numbers about 5 thousand exhibits. The museum exposition is placed in 8 halls.
As a result of the large research work the exposition represents the unique pictures and documents of the Zakrevskyis family, furniture, crockery, books, pictures of the court painter A. Tretechevskyi and pictures of modern artists, personal possessions of the Heroes of Soviet Union
S. Myrvoda and F. Serbyn, poet and singer Dmytro Lutsenko,
Hero of Ukraine singer Raisa Kyrychenko, rewards and artistic heritage of D. Lutsenko.
Complementary to the exposition of the museum is the Berezova Rudka Park with an area of 45 hectares, the 18th century sight of the landscape art of national value (1960) with a palace complex and a pyramid chapel.
The persons wishing to feel the breath of history and get in touch with the original culture of Poltava region, its magic nature and sincere hospitality are sincerely welcomed to Berezova Rudka.
