Passenger transportations in the region are carried out with car, railway and electro- and aviation transport.
The biggest part of the passenger transportations in the region (under 77%) are carried out by car transport. The bus park of the region accounts under 4600 cars, 52% among them are in the private property. Daily passenger transportations on regular routes are serviced by about 1500 buses.
Aiming at improving of the transport servicing of the population of the region the program of development of the car transport of public use in the Ivano-Frankivsk region for 2003-2007 was developed, a constituent part of which is a Program "Village Bus". The mentioned program foresees the embracement of all the inhabited localities of the region with regular bus connection.
The railway transport of public use is a powerful chain of the transport system which possesses the biggest gross weight in cargo transportations of the region, the main showing of use of movable stock are improving, the work at reconstruction an restoration of railway stations of the region is continuing, the measures concerning more full and qualitative servicing of passenger are carried out. Among the main nomenclature groups of cargos inn 2005 the sending of grain and grinding products, ferrous metal scrap and oil products grew considerably bigger. An average standstill of a carriage at one operation was reduced by 5.89 hours, the cargo wagon turnover was reduced by 0.38 days.
