Transport complex of the region consists of railway, sea, river, car and air transport. In the transport branch today more than 88 enterprises, institutions and organizations operate. In the region there is an airport, 3 state sea trade ports, 2 river port corporations, 5 shipping companies of different property forms, an enterprise of railway transport, an aviation enterprise, 75 subjects of economy carry out their activity in the market of car transportations, including 45 passenger transportation performers and 30 - cargo ones.
Railway transport. The total length of railway system of the region makes up 837.9 km. railway direction: Snihurivka, Mykolaiv, Crimea. It carries out the transportation of oil, cement, chemical fertilizers, metal scrap, colour ore, grain cargos.
Sea transport. The Kherson Sea Trade Port. The port process general and bulked cargos of different types (mineral fertilizers and chemical cargos, grain cargos). Also one processes there ferrous metals of all profiles, pig iron in bars, coke, ferroalloys, wood, peat.
Favourable geographical position provides the proximity to production centers of Donetsk and Prydniprov’ya region and access to the Black Sea.
The Skadovsk Sea Trade Port. Main nomenclature of cargos processed by the port: building and agricultural ones.
The cargo transportations are carried out both to the CIS countries and abroad.
The port carries out cargo transportation on ferry lines Skadovsk - Zonguldac, Skadovsk - Istanbul.
River transport. SE "Kherson River Port", JSIC "Ukrrichflot". Main cargo nomenclature transported by the port - sand, crushed stone, metal scrap, grain. Transportation of these cargos is carried out on local lines. The reason of reduction of cargo transportations is reduction of demand for transportation of mineral and building cargos.
The PC "Nova Kakhovka River Port". The port transports building cargos (sand and cement).
Air transport. Regional communal enterprise "Airport Kherson".
Car transport. The length of car roads of the region of public use makes up 4949.4 km.
