__Institute of Essential Oil-bearing Plants and Herbs of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences (IEOPH UAAS) has been created in 1965 and remain a unique in the world scientific establishment, dealing with all problems of oil-bearing manufactures. The basic directions of scientific activity of IEOPH: selection and seed-growing of oil-bearing crops, biotechnology, biochemistry and physiology, technology of cultivation of oil-bearing and herbs, technology of processing of oil-bearing raw materials, standardization of products of processing of oil-bearing and medical raw materials. The institute is the main organization of oil-bearing branches of Ukraine. In scientific departments and institute laboratories there are 70 scientific employees, including 4 doctors of sciences and 27th candidates of sciences. The total amount of annual scientific researches coducted by IEOPH makes 2 million 645 thousand hryvnas. Economic effect of use of workings of IEOPH in oil-bearing branches of all Ukraine is 5,7 million hryvnas a year. For the years of IEOPH existence the scientists of the institute created over 50 sorts of such oil-bearing crops. Methods of cultivation of hybrid plants in embryoculture and methods of micro clonal reproduction and improvement of landing material of perspective sorts and hybrids of oil-carrier and herbs are developed. Adaptive little wastful technologies of cultivation of the basic oil-bearing and medicinal crops are developed and implemented in manufacture . More than 15 new complex technologies of processing of oil-bearing and medical raw materials and the equipment to their realization are developed . There had been created more than 20 machines for mechanization of cultivation of mint, rose, sage Muscat, coriander. The institute genofund is a national property of Ukraine. In a genofund of oil-bearing, aromatic and medicinal crops of IEOPH there are approximately 1600 kinds and forms of plants. Plants from different world continents are introduced. In institute laboratories 25 thousand laboratory analyses on definition of biochemical, technological indicators oil-bearing raw materials and essence are conducted. The institute is the participant of the European co-operative program on genetic resources of plants of the International organization "Bioversity International". For a long time the institute successfully co-operates with research establishments from many European countries. The institute has published 26 volumes of scientific works, 2 bibliographies from essence, 5 monographies, more than 3 thousand scientific articles, 400 copyright certificates on sorts and inventions have been received. The institute carries out preparation of scientific workers through postgraduate study on specialties: " Selection of plants "," Plant growing "," Technology of fats of essence and perfumery-cosmetic products ". The postgraduate study of institute prepares 52 candidates of sciences. On the base of IEOPH the only one in Ukraine chair of essence oils of PF" Crimean Agrotechnological university " of SAU functions which prepares specialists in the field of technology of processing of oil-bearing raw materials.
