He was born on February, 24th, 1934. In 1957 has graduated from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (nowadays NTU "KPI").
__
Since 1996 till today he is the director of the institute, the head of the department of modelling and identification of thermal processes. In 1966 he has defended candidate, in 1971 - doctor’s dissertations, in 1978 was awarded a rank of the professor, in 1982 was elected corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine, in 2003 - academician of NAS of Ukraine.

Y.M. Matsevytyi is a well-known scientist in power machinery. He has developed the theory of solution of direct non-linear and return incorrect problems of power conductivity. On this basis there was developed and entered into SPA "Turboatom" the hybrid system of middle class; analogue-digital computer complex "Neptune" for research of thermal and thermal loaded state of power machinery; devices "Turbine-1", "Turbine-2", "Turbine-3" for the control of deflection of turbine cases and prevention of the emergencies, entered into Reftynskyi, Nevynnomyskyi and Zmiyivskyi HRES; devices for modelling of beam heat exchange, non-linear limiting conditions; devices "Topol", "Funktsional", "Revers" for the control of thermal properties of materials; heat stabilization systems of space vehicles for NKAU have been developed. His workings out were entered also into factories of Malyshev, "Pivdenmash", "Motor-Sich", HARTRON, NDTIP, SRI "Shtorm". The author of over 300 scientific publications (domestic and foreign), among which there are 10 monographies. He teaches at the higher educational institutions of Kharkiv, has prepared 24 candidates, 9 doctors of science. Achievements of the scientist have been noted by the State award of the USSR in the field of science and technics (1984), H.F. Proskura (1983) and V.I. Tolubynskyi’s awards (2004) of NASU. He was awarded the Certificate of honor of Presidium of the VR of Ukraine (1984), given a rank "Honored worker of science and technics of Ukraine" (1996).

Y.M. Matsevytyi is an active public figure. He is a member of many domestic and foreign scientific committees, councils and commissions.

Oleksandr Bozhko
__
Corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine (power-plant engineering). He was born on July, 12th, 1935. Has graduated in 1961 from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute on a specialty "Measuring technics". Since 1972 up to this day he works at IPMash of NASU. The Head of the department of reliability and dynamic strength (1972). Candidate of technical sciences (1968), Doctor of technical sciences (1971), Professor (1974), corresponding member of NASU (1992).

The outstanding scientist in the field of development of methods, systems and means of tests of objects for reliability and dynamic strength, optimum control of fluctuations of mechanical systems, vibration diagnostics and vibration protection. He has created the theory of reproduction of casual and spatial vibrations for problems of vibrating tests of objects; the theory of optimum control by systems of a gradual order (with n degrees of freedom) has been developed; new results from the theory of electromagnetic vibration exciters and new effects in them were received. The author of over 747 scientific works, including 17 monographies, 262 patents and copyright certificates for inventions.

The veteran of the Great Patriotic War, he was awarded the orders and medals. The winner of H.F. Proskura (1978) and V.M. Khrushchov’s (2007) awards of NASU, the republican V.K. Seminskyi’s award of Ukraine (1986), honored inventor of Ukraine (1981), was awarded the Certificate of honor of the VR of Ukraine for outstanding inventor’s activity (2006).

Yuriy Vorobyov

He was born on September, 8th, 1936. Has graduated in 1960 from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute on a specialty "Dynamics and strength of machines". Since 1972 and up till this day - in IPMash of NASU. The Head of the department of non-stationary mechanical processes (1979). Candidate of technical sciences (1965), Doctor of technical sciences (1978), Professor (1984).

The well-known scientist in researches and synthesis of properties of elements of structures under the influence of non-stationary and vibrating loads. He has developed and generalized the theory of twisted cores of complex constructive forms; the theory of complex systems is developed in parts at non-stationary influences with use of different combinations of numerical methods (variation, MSE); the method of optimum synthesis of parameters of turbomachine blading with the set of vibrating properties at constructive and technological restrictions was offered.

The author of over 400 scientific works, including 8 monographies. The winner of the State award of Ukraine in the field of science and the technics (1984), was awarded an award "Honor Sign" (1986), and noted by the grant of the International scientific fund of I. Mianovski (2002), the grant of Kharkiv Regional State Administration of H.F. Proskura (2003).

Vitaliy Hnesin

He was born on November, 25th, 1937. Has graduated in 1959 from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute on a specialty "Turbine construction" and in 1968 from Kharkiv State University on a specialty "Mathematics". In IPMash of NASU - since 1972. The head of the department of aerohydromechanics (1987). Candidate of technical sciences (1975), Doctor of technical sciences (1984), Professor (1987).

The well-known scientist in mathematical modelling and numerical researches of transonic currents in turbine and compressor degrees, aeroelasticity problems of turbomachine blades, problems of non-stationary aerodynamics of turbomachines. He has developed the theory of 3-measurements of transonic gas currents in axial-flow turbomachines, has developed numerical methods of calculation and has created packages of applied programs of calculation of gas dynamic currents in axial turbomachines. The author of over 150 scientific works, including 2 monographies.

Borys Kantor

He was born on May, 30th, 1928. Has graduated in 1951 from Kharkiv Aviation Institute on a specialty "Aircraft construction". Since 1956 up to this day - in IPMash of NASU (by that time the Laboratory of hydraulic machines). The head of the department of strength of thin-walled structures (1972). Candidate of technical sciences (1964), Doctor of technical sciences (1974), Professor (1981).

The well-known scientist in the field of non-linear computer mechanics, building mechanics of thin-walled structures, biomechanics of heart. Has offered effective combination of methods Ritze, Newton-Kantorovych, Gauss with numerical analysis of tasks of statics and firmness of flexible non-elastic covers, a method of direct determination of critical conditions of shells; has developed a new variation-segment method of calculation of thin shells and average thickness, has offered the new effective theory of thin shells with untied layers; has constructed the new mathematical models of a full cardial cycle, its independent (vegetative) nervous regulation.

The author of over 300 scientific works, including 8 monographies. The winner of the State award of Ukraine in the field of science and technics (1984), honored worker of science and technics of Ukraine (2003) was awarded the Reading and writing of Presidium of the VR of Ukraine (1988).

Viktor Solovei

He was born on July, 9th, 1945. Has graduated in 1967 from Kharkiv Institute of Engineers of Railway Transport on a specialty "Industrial heat power engineering".

Since 1975 up to this day - in IPMash of NASU. The head of the department of hydrogen power (1979). Candidate of technical sciences (1973), Doctor of technical sciences (1986), Professor (1997).

The well-known scientist in the field of designing of the power equipment, research of thermal processes in turbine units of TPS and APS, thermodynamic and thermal processes of hydrogen power, in particular, creation of highly effective power and technological equipment which uses hydrogen as an ecologically pure energy carrier or an effective working body. The founder of a new priority scientific direction in power system - development of scientific and technical principles of metal hydride devices as heating objects, irrespective of area of their application.

The author of over 320 scientific works, including 4 monographies, 71 patents and a copyright certificate. He has a rank "Best inventor of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" (1999).

Yuriy Stoyan

He was born on October, 19th, 1935. Has graduated in 1956 from Kharkiv Aviation Institute on a specialty "Aircraft engine production". Since 1972 up to this day - in IPMash of NASU. The head of the department of mathematical modelling and optimal design (1972). Candidate of technical sciences (1968), Doctor of technical sciences (1972), corresponding member of NASU (1985), Professor (1972).

The well-known scientist in applied mathematics, computation geometry, discrete optimization. At the turn of classical methods of mathematics and modern methods of cybernetics he has created the theory of geometrical designing for the solution of a wide range of important scientific and practical tasks of optimization of placing of geometrical objects in the set areas. Created by him the special device of F-functions for the analytical description of conditions of interaction of geometrical objects and process modelling of their placing has given the chance to construct for the first time adequate mathematical models of a class of problems of geometrical designing. Revealing of fundamental properties of combinatory sets made by Y.H. Stoyan has given the chance to approach modelling and problem solution of discrete optimization in a new way.

Anatoliy Tarelin
__
Corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine (power-plant engineering). He was born on October, 10th, 1940. Has graduated in 1965 from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute on a specialty "Turbine construction". In IPMash of NASU - since 1976: the associated director on scientific work (2000), the head of the department of technical researches in power engineering (1985). Candidate of technical sciences (1974), Doctor of technical sciences (1994), corresponding member of NASU (2006), Professor (2006).

The well-known scientist in power-plant engineering which has made the powerful contribution to development of the theory and engineering practice of optimal design of flowing parts of power turbines. For the first time he investigated and has developed a new scientific direction in the theory of turbomachines - heat power physics. He theoretically has generalized and experimentally established in natural conditions the presence of electric charges in flowing parts of steam turbines and their essential influence on thermal condition of a working body. Effective methods of rational management of this phenomenon were developed for efficiency and reliability increase of steam-turbine plants.

The author of over 128 scientific works, from which there are 3 monographies, 25 patents, from them - 5 USA. The winner of H.F. Proskura’s award of NASU of Ukraine (1982).

Tetiana Sheiko
__
She was born on September, 5th, 1946. Has graduated from Kharkiv State University on a specialty "Mechanics". In IPMash of NASU she works since 1971 (earlier - branch of the Institute of Technical Thermophysics of AS of the USSR). The head of the department of applied mathematics and computational methods (2005). Candidate of physical and mathematical sciences (1975), Doctor of technical sciences (1989), Professor (1995). The well-known scientist in mathematical modelling, theory of R-functions, mathematical physics, mechanics of continuous medium. She has developed a complex of research methods and calculation of contrast fields in operating conditions of modern computer facilities. Has developed new constructive means of the theory and method of R-functions, methods of the account of conditions at the border of mediums with different physical characteristics. The author of over 90 scientific works, including 1 monography. The winner of the State award of Ukraine in the field of science and technics (1980).

Oleksandr Shubenko

He was born on July, 31st, 1941. In 1963 he has graduated from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute on a specialty "Turbine construction". Since 1965 up to this day - in IPMash of NASU (earlier - branch of the Institute of Mechanics and Institute of Technical Thermophysics of AS of the USSR), was trained at postgraduate study of Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (1966-1968). The head of the department of optimization of processes and structures of turbomachines (1997). Candidate of technical sciences (1969), Doctor of technical sciences (1994), Professor (2007).

The well-known scientist in the field of development of modern mathematical models and calculation methods of thermal gas dynamic processes in flowing parts of steam turbines of TPS, APS, including in the field of damp steam. For the first time he has developed in practice of turbine construction the scientifically proved methods for determination of intensity of erosive destruction bladings of damp-steam turbines and a complex of constructive and regime means for negative phenomenon control and prolongation of life service of working blades, and also modern methods of calculation of spatial diphasic currents in turbine levels of big slackness.

The author of over 135 scientific works, including 2 monographies and 2 patents. The winner of V.I. Tolubynskyi’s award of NAS of Ukraine (2001).

Mykola Shulzhenko
__
He was born on July, 21st, 1945. Has graduated in 1968 from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute on a specialty "Dynamics and strength of machines". In IPMash of NASU (earlier - branch of the Institute of Technical Thermophysics of AS of the USSR) - with 1970.

The head of the department of vibrating and thermal investigations (1996). Candidate of technical sciences (1974), Doctor of technical sciences (1992), Professor (1993).

The well-known scientist in development of effective methods of problem solution of dynamics and strength of turbomachines and spatial structures, development and use of methods and means of vibrating diagnostics of rotor aggregates, development of methods of diagnosing of thermal and vibrating conditions of power machines and substantiation of continuation of their resource. He has developed methods of vibration diagnostics, determination of thermal conditions and reliability for estimation of turbomachine resource.

The author of over 225 scientific works, including 2 monographies.

The winner of the nominal grant of H.F. Proskura of Kharkiv regional state administration in the field of science and technics (2002).
__
He was awarded the diplomas of the State committee in science and technics of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions of the USSR (1977, 1980, 1986).
