__A famous scientist in the field of physical and radiating Materials Science, physics of durability and plasticity of crystal materials. He has scientific degree of Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, Professor, corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine, the academician of the International Academy of Sciences of the Higher school. He heads the famous in the world scientific school "Physical Materials Science of Non-Uniform Systems". By results of scientific researches professor V.A. Makara has published over 300 scientific works (among them there were three monographies), which are well-known and are recognized by experts both in our country and beyond its borders. In 2005 he was given an honorary title "Honored worker of science and technics of Ukraine". V.A. Makara was born in 1945 in Kyiv. In 1967 he has graduated from physical faculty of Shevchenko Kyiv State University (KSU) and after graduation from postgraduate study since 1970 he works at the university. V.A. Makara has initiated creation and took active part in foundation of Educational and Scientific Centre "Physical and Chemical Materials Science" of Т. Shevchenko Kyiv University of NAS of Ukraine; he is the director of it since the moment of its foundation. Educational and Scientific Centre "Physical and Chemical Materials Science" has been created in 1997 at Presidium of NAS of Ukraine for realization of educational and scientific activity by integration of scientific potential of NAS of Ukraine and is educational and pedagogical base of Т. Shevchenko Kyiv National University. Since November, 2003 the Center has been included to the State register of scientific institutions which are given state support. Under the decision of Presidium of NAS of Ukraine in 2004 the Center is subordinated to created the same year in the system of NAS of Ukraine the Department of nuclear physics and energetics.

__The centre carries out research at such basic directions: formation and physical-and-chemical properties of micro-and nano-composition materials and structures which are perspective for using in the nuclear technics and technologies; mechanisms of influence of physical fields and radiating irradiation on multifunctional nano-heterosystems, that include bimolecular and biocollateral phases.
