__In 1988 Olena graduated from the Kiev National Economy Institute (now the Kyiv National Economic University; in 1995 she graduated from the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture; in 1997 she graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Advanced Training for Specialists; in 1998 she graduated from the Law Department of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management.

__Olena Shamrina is a member of a whole range of international associations in the IP field, in particular the Ukrainian Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the International Trademark Association (INTA), where she has been actively involved in the activities of the INTA Bulletin Committee informing the members about the current state of the laws in the field of trademarks and main trends in their development, as well as the Dilution and Well-known Trademarks Committee (Eastern and Central European subcommittee). Olena Shamrina is also a member of the International Licensing Executive Society (LESI). She also actively cooperates with international organisations in the field of protection of intellectual property, such as FICPI (International Federation of Patent Attorneys); MARQUES (Association of European Trademark Owners); ECTA (European Communities Trademark Association); PTMG (Pharmaceutical Trademarks Group).

__Olena Shamrina is an author of a number of publications in both domestic and international editions dedicated to the issues of IPR protection, in particular with regard to legislative development.

__Olena’s practice in the intellectual property field covers counselling on all aspects of the protection, licensing, assignment of intellectual property rights, in particular inventions, utility models, trademarks for goods and services, geographical indications, industrial designs, and the defence of IPRs in courts. Her practice also covers such areas as copyright and related rights and unfair competition. Olena Shamrina also specialises in the fields of customs, contract and banking laws.
