__According to the historic archival documents, the Lviv railway sanitary-and-epidemiologic service existed already in 1936. At that time the territory of the railway passed through Lviv, Ternopil, Stanislav regions and was divided into 42 districts, each of them with a doctor to organize the sanitary monitoring of enterprises of the railway area. In 1944 pursuant to the order of NKShS № S-708-Ts dated August 10, 1944 the functions of the Lviv railway and medical and sanitary service were renewed. There were founded three sanitary-and-epidemiologic institutions:

__- railway malarial station;

__- disinfection station;

__- railway sanitary-hygienic laboratory.

__There were created at the sanitary-and-epidemiologic service the positions of inspectors on the epidemiological, sanitary-hygienic issues. There were organized the sanitary-quarantine unit 11 and SES 6: Lviv, Stryi, Uzhhorod; after the liquidation of the Kovel railway and redistribution of the Moldavian railway the Lviv railway sanitary-and-epidemiologic service was complimented by Kjvel, Rivne and Chernivtsi.
